Diamond grading is conducted using internationally accepted standards; color is generally graded from D-Z, clarity from Flawless – Included, and Polish and Symmetry from Ideal/Excellent – Poor. The evaluation is printed on a diamond certificate, which accompanies the diamond when it is sold.
To ensure an unbiased inspection, make sure that the laboratory that has graded your diamond is a third-party grader that is not affiliated with the seller from whom you are purchasing. (Otherwise, it’s like asking a Toyota dealer to inspect and give a quality rating to their own cars!)
